Hawai'ian music is closely related to Tahitian music, both being Polynesian.

Listening to the Hawai'ian music channel, 981 on DishTV's satellite offerings, opened my ears to some great modern Hawai'ian music. I have been especially entranced by the songs of Teresa Bright and Robi Kahakalau. Channel 981 plays one cut each from many different CDs each day, and they seem to rotate their selections every several days. If you listen with your VCR loaded with a blank tape, you can capture most of the songs that you like and then play them back at your leasure.
