Use of herbs during pregnancy or while nursing

To avoid any damage to a developing child, it is probably best to minimize the use of any medicinal herbs during pregnancy or while nursing. It is also probably best to also minimize the use of any over-the-counter (OTC) drugs and prescription drugs during a pregnancy. Consult competent medical authorities with your questions. Some of the possibly toxic medicinal herbs listed in this book are marked with a special, "Note: do not use if pregnant or nursing" if herbal literature references indicated that it was unwise or potentially dangerous to use a particular medicinal herb during a pregnancy or during nursing.
