The mighty placebo effect

It seems that in our highly scientific controlled experiments for new prescription drugs being tested in double-blind fashion, there is always a small but significant minority of the subjects who improve, get better or get even well, just under the influence of the inert drug-free capsules or caps which they have received. The human body is very complicated, both from the viewpoint of biochemistry and from the viewpoint of our consciousness. If some people believe that a certain traditional folk medicinal herb will help them deal with a certain ailment or problem, then maybe it will, even if "scientific tests" assert that it has very little, if any real curative qualities.
