Bring 'em on in

To the Editor:

The "bring 'em on in/no borders" crowd is attempting to create a new myth that by granting illegal aliens California driver's licenses, that somehow, we will be "safer." Wrong. Actually, we will be less safe on the road by the granting of driver's licenses to illegal aliens. Presently the illegals have to worry about being stopped by the police or the Highway Patrol and eventually end up being deported back to their native land. Thus, they have been driving very carefully and considerately. With the threat of deportation removed by the quasi-legalization of their presence created by the possession of a legal California driver's license, they will just drive as they please, as fast and as recklessly as they want to. Thus there will be more accidents and more traffic deaths involving illegal aliens. And if they fail the DMV tests or "lose" their licenses, they will just return to being scofflaw illegal aliens, and drive without licenses.

This watered-down version of the bill to legalize the driving of the illegals is a security nightmare. But, Governor Gray Davis will do anything, say anything and take contributions from anyone in his vain attempt to keep his job.

Yours truly,

James K. Sayre
