To the Editor:

RE: the possible changing of the name of the Bay Bridge to the Emperor Norton Bridge. Since we have spent the last fifteen years dawdling over the renovation of the eastern span of the Bay Bridge, maybe we can spend another five years bickering over a new name for said bridge. Sounds like a plan to me.

Here are a few modest suggestions: the emperor's new bridge, the Ed Norton bridge, the Horton-hears-a-who bridge, the once-and-future bridge, the Transbay bridge, the "under construction" bridge, the it-was-never-rebuilt bridge, the never-neverland bridge, the let's-pave-the-bay bridge, the faith-based bridge, the suspension-of-belief bridge, the Giants-Athletics bridge, the Fortyniners-Raiders bridge, the at-least-it-keeps-us-dry bridge, the the two-browns bridge, the Willie & Jerry Memorial bridge, the its-not-the-Golden-Gate bridge, the proudly blue state bridge, the President Kerry bridge, the Vice President Edwards bridge, the Yerba Buena bridge, the Treasure Island bridge, the bumper-to-bumper bridge, the parking lot bridge, the free parking bridge, the gridlocked bridge, the ask-not-for-whom-the-tolls-increase bridge, the bring 'em on in bridge, the Bahia Puente Bay bridge, the knitter's delight bridge, the cell-phone yakker's bridge or the Emperor Bush bridge.

Yours truly,
