Before 1510 has been variously asserted to be broadcasting from Piedmont, San Francisco or San Rafael, depending on which source you believe. Formerly, a sort of light-oldies-pop with virtually no commercials. Formerly formerly, a traditional golden oldies station and before that, K-MOZART, a classical music station. Several years ago 1510 was KKHI, a classical music station.: KPIG

88.5 FM - KQED - San Francisco - a decade ago, this station broadcast classical music uncluttered with commercials; now it is a PBS corporate "news" propaganda outlet. Isn't "progress" wonderful?

90.7 FM - KALX - Berkeley - UC Berkeley's campus radio station - mostly modern rock plus Cal Sports.
90.9 KXPR - Sacramento - an excellent PBS classical music station. Unfortunately, its signal in the central Bay Area varies from weak to non-existent.
91.1 FM - KCSM - San Mateo - College of San Mateo's campus radio station. The only remaining jazz station in the Bay Area. Friday and Saturday broadcasts usually feature the Blues.
91.5 FM - KKUP - Cupertino - an alternative, listened-supported station.
91.7 FM - KALW - San Francisco - a PBS corporate news machine, but in the evenings ventures into music, typically electronic stuff.
94.1 FM - KPFA - Berkeley - a progressive listener-sponsored station, part of the Pacifica Foundation. At 5 PM, M -F, is Flashpoints news and daily at 6 PM: the news.
102.1 FM - KDFC - San Francisco -this "classical music" station features loud obnoxious ads for products which are interrupted by snippets of classical music. Not for the faint of heart. This is probably the worst classical music station in California.
