Arnold Schwarzenegger is a breath of fresh air when he says that he likes paying taxes.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is a breath of fresh air. Imagine a wealthy Republican actually saying that he is happy paying a lot of taxes! Arnold's philosophy is that if he is paying a lot in taxes, that he must be earning a lot of money. In the August 11 issue of the Los Angeles Times, Schwarzennegger's investment manager, Paul Wachter told reporters that "Arnold likes paying taxes." He further related that Arnold's philosophy is 'If I'm paying a lot of taxes, I must be making a lot of money."

Arnold's positive attitude about paying taxes puts to shame the greedy selfish attitudes of Mr. Cheney, Mr. Bush, Mr. Simon, Mr. McClintock and almost all of the Republicans currently in the California Legislature.

These Republican tax-cutters and tax-freezers are basically trying to destroy our traditional form of government, be it in Sacramento or in Washington, D. C. All they seem to want from government is police protection and military might. Every tax freeze and tax cut results in service cuts for the middle class and the poor. Telephone calls go unanswered. Potholes in the road go unpatched. Dental cavities go unfilled. Homeland security becomes a hollow shell, without real substance. Our common environment goes unmonitored and unprotected from abuse and toxic chemicals.
